Dentist
Dr. Nelson graduated dental school at the University of British Columbia and went on to complete his general practice residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center. Upon completing his training, he moved to Victoria and has enjoyed living and working in our beautiful city ever since. He opened Admirals Walk Dental back in 2011 and has greatly appreciated connecting with patients and families in the area. By taking the time to develop strong patient-dentist relationships, Dr. Nelson excels at ensuring his patients feel comfortable in his care. Outside of the office, he’s always on the go, staying active and often training with the local triathlon community.
Associate Dentist
Dr. Sheppard found his love for dentistry while shadowing a local dentist during his undergraduate studies. He went on to complete his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of British Columbia and joined the Admirals Walk Dental team back in 2019. His goal is to share his passion for patient-centered care through kindness, empathy, and the commitment to continue learning. When he’s not in the office, Dr. Sheppard enjoys walking his dogs and exploring the ever-growing restaurant scene in Victoria.
Certified Dental Assistant
Jennifer graduated with honors as a CDA from the College of New Caledonia in Prince George and has been working alongside Dr. Nelson in Victoria since 2009. In that time, she has found a true joy in delivering quality dental care, and it’s reflected in the comfort and trust our patients feel in her care. Jennifer is also an avid swimmer, and when she’s not in the clinic, you will likely find her in the swimming pool where she competes at a provincial, national, and international level with the Victoria Masters Swim Club.
Certified Dental Assistant
Barb began her career as a dental assistant in Vancouver before moving to Victoria in 1993. She has been working as a full-time CDA for many years and joined Dr. Nelson’s office staff in 2017. She enjoys doing her best to make her patients feel comfortable with a friendly, personal approach to dental medicine. Barb likes to spend her free time with her family, getting outdoors, gardening, and whenever possible, horseback riding or skiing.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Emily graduated with distinction from the dental hygiene program at Vancouver Community College in 2012. She then moved back home to Victoria, excited to pursue her new career in the dental profession, and joined the Admirals Walk team not long after. She is a strong believer in individualizing patient care and is happy to work with her patients to find the most effective methods for them to achieve proper oral care both in-office and at home. In her free time, Emily loves to try new and interesting restaurants in town and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Heather is a graduate of the Vancouver Community College Dental Hygiene program. Since graduating in 2012, she has been practicing in her hometown of Victoria. She has worked Mondays with the Admirals Walk Dental team since joining the office in 2017. Heather enjoys the opportunity to help improve the oral and overall health of her patients. She is an avid runner and triathlete, and a firm believer in proactive healthcare.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Faye completed her schooling through the Camosun Dental Hygiene program and joined our team in the summer of 2024. Her favorite part of being a hygienist is the positive impact she has on her patients’ oral health and in turn, general well-being. In her spare time, Faye enjoys a variety of arts and crafts and being a proud cat mom. In the summer months, you’ll find her on the water either dragon boating or kayaking.
Dental Assistant
Lorena moved to Victoria with her husband in 2023 all the way from Brazil, where she is a certified dentist with a focus in prosthodontics. She hopes to someday earn her doctorate certification in Canada as well. However, for now she is enjoying working as an assistant and has appreciated diversifying her dentistry knowledge while getting to connect with our patients. Lorena started with Admirals Walk Dental in 2024 and has been a great addition to the team. When not in the office, she enjoys hiking, exploring the nature of West Coast Canada, and spending time with her family and her kitten.
Receptionist
Kiara joined the office in 2021, not long after moving to Victoria post-undergrad. Our office was her first introduction to dental medicine, and she has enjoyed learning the ins and outs of dentistry over the last few years. She loves to connect with patients at the front desk and help them comfortably navigate their treatments and scheduling. Out of office, Kiara is always looking for new and interesting recipes to cook or restaurants to try.
